My Epilepsy Story

Full Circle

full-circle-3I have been waiting for the right time to share with everyone about a new board member for the organization. We are blessed here at My Epilepsy Story to add Dr. Kay Solar. She is a board certified OB/GYN where she now practices gynecology at Woman’s Hospital in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She is a talented and gifted doctor and we are so excited to have her apart of our organization.

On a personal and little bit emotional side, Dr. Solar was my OB/GYN while I was pregnant with Samuel. When looking at what I wanted our Board of Directors to look like, I wanted people that somehow had a connection with epilepsy, Samuel, or myself. I must admit, I was nervous asking Dr. Solar to be apart of the organization because we hadn’t seen each other in years. To be able to have the doctor that walked through my pregnancy with me and now have her apart of this organization makes me smile. As I sit here this evening writing this post, I have tears knowing that she was the first person to see and hold my precious son….. This wonderful woman had the opportunity to look into his beautiful eyes first….This doctor was able to see this world changer before anyone else. She gave me endless encouragement and guidance as a pregnant woman living with epilepsy. She monitored both Samuel and I carefully throughout my pregnancy. As they prepared me for surgery, Dr. Solar came by and squeezed my hand. She asked if I was ready to get going and see this little boy. Dr. Solar delivered my sweet little boy almost 6 weeks early and would check on him while he was in the NICU. I wanted to share a few personal photos of Samuel and Dr. Solar. Again, I cannot express the emotions that I feel as things begin to come full circle……When Dr. Solar comes to Nashville again, I will have some new photos of Samuel and her to share with everyone. Please go to our website and click under Board Members to read about this wonderful woman and doctor. I look forward to the next year, 6 years, 16 years, 26 years and beyond…..Look at how far we have come and where we are going.

Absolutely wonderful – there are a lot of full circles in life – we fail to step out and reconnect with souls that touched our lives years earlier out of fear of rejection sometimes. But YOU, Brandy, are one of the bravest women I know and will not miss anything handed to you during this lifetime. Samuel is so very fortunate. I won’t say lucky because he probably picked you before he came here.
