This International Women with Epilepsy Day, we honor strength—and invest in change.
Women with epilepsy lead, create, and make history every day, yet many still face barriers to healthcare, education, employment, and understanding. Today, we come together to change that.
Women with epilepsy face unique challenges—but their dreams of running successful businesses shouldn’t be limited by them. The EmpowerHer Enterprise Fund provides financial support, resources, and mentorship to women entrepreneurs living with epilepsy, helping them grow their businesses, achieve financial independence, and thrive.
The Sandra L. Helmers, M.D., M.P.H. Scholarship honors the life and legacy of a pioneering epilepsy physician, researcher, and mentor whose work transformed care for people living with epilepsy and inspired generations of medical professionals.
The Cynthia Louise Harden Award supports essential research addressing neuroendocrine conditions in women and girls. Building on Dr. Harden’s legacy, the award promotes investigation into under-researched neurological issues, driving progress in sexual health, menopause, and bone health where new discoveries are urgently needed.
The Kimford J. Meador Research in Women with Epilepsy Award champions the next generation of clinician-scientists whose work is shaping a better future for women living with epilepsy. This award honors early-career researchers who have already made meaningful contributions to understanding the unique challenges faced by women with epilepsy—and who show exceptional promise to drive innovation in care, research, and advocacy.
The Dr. Sanjeev Thomas Memorial Educational Grant was established to honor the life and legacy of Dr. Sanjeev Thomas, a passionate advocate for advancing epilepsy education worldwide. This project-based grant supports healthcare professionals who are developing or expanding impactful international educational initiatives in epilepsy care — with particular attention to underserved populations and women living with epilepsy.
