My Epilepsy Story Board Chair

Dr Sarita Maturu

My Epilepsy Story (MES) is proud to introduce you to our new board chair, Dr. Sarita Maturu. Dr. Maturu has been involved with MES for over 8 years. MES is extremely grateful to have a strong leader with the knowledge of women’s health as well as lead with care and compassion. Dr. Maturu is patient-centered in her clinical care as well as research. We are excited to see where Dr. Maturu will lead MES as well as the exciting things that she is bringing to the table to push women’s health in epilepsy to the next level. Please join with us and welcome Dr. Sarita Maturu to this new role within My Epilepsy Story.

Dr. Maturu is a neurologist and as the medical director of Neurology Specialty Clinics at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, she is passionate about delivering exceptional care that makes a positive difference in our patients’ lives. She helped create and operationalize more than 20 multidisciplinary and subspecialty neurology clinics designed to provide comprehensive care and access to multiple subspecialty experts during a single visit. Dr. Maturu is committed to improving outcomes, strengthening communication between teams, and enhancing quality of life, all while providing convenience for patients and caregivers.

Dr. Maturu specialize in treating patients with epilepsy and she offers advanced therapies such as deep brain stimulation and vagus nerve stimulation. She is the lead physician of the Epilepsy Pregnancy Clinic, the Epilepsy Transition Clinic, and the Psychogenic Non-Epileptic Event Clinic.

In addition to her clinical responsibilities, she is involved in national and international efforts to advance care for all patients with epilepsy. Dr. Maturu has been on the board of My Epilepsy Story, a nonprofit organization that empowers women and girls with epilepsy since 2020. She is also a member of the American Epilepsy Society and very often invited to discuss my expertise at national conferences.

Dr. Maturu roles includes helping to educate the next generation of physicians. She is an associate clinical professor of Neurology in The Ohio State University College of Medicine. In addition, she also serves as co-chair of the Women in Medicine and Science Events Subcommittee at the college.
