I came across this on a card the other day when I was having a girl day with a friend. (Thanks Lauren for giving me the girl day) This saying caught my eye immediately…so I took a photo with my phone. As I pondered on this saying over the past few days I wondered how many people choose not to take the risk and blossom. We choose to live tight in that bud until it becomes so painful and often unbearable….and even then some of us choose to live in that tight bud forever. When you take that risk to blossom it is so freeing. Not that it isn’t hard to take the risk but when you see that blossom of the orchid you can see the beauty that was inside the bud the whole time.
I have thought, how many times I have sat in that tight bud, feeling the pain and choosing the pain…Why did I sit there? What took me so long to take the risk and blossom? I can either choose the pain or the beauty that is to come….Will I let the pain define my life or the beautiful blossom of that orchid define me? I am choosing to let that beautiful orchid define my life…..I am choosing to say look where I was, but most importantly look where I am going. Look at how I broke free from that pain and look at this beautiful blossom that has come out of this pain. I look forward to seeing what other things will blossom in the next year, 6 years, 16 years, 26 years and beyond……Why are you sitting in that tight bud? Are you ready to take the risk and blossom into a beautiful orchid?

I realized this the day I was walking in the rain and my foot was getting cold and wet because there was a hole in the sole of my old comfortable shoes I had refused to get rid of. When out that evening and tried on a new pair of shoes.
Always remember that it takes rain as well as sunshine for the orchid to develop into a beautiful blossom. Wonderful post Brandy.
